big philosophy

I was reading about Occam's Razor and it made me start thinking. Scary thoughts.

About the origin of the universe. If time really is infinite, and we know at some point the universe was created by a "big bang" then there must have been a time before the universe existed. Cosmologists say a being must have existed to cause such an event. But, I don't believe that something must have existed to create something. If you do, everything traces backwards into infinity. Because something must always have existed to create the something you believe created the universe.

I can handle forwards infinity into the future, but not backwards. Why does the universe exist? There's probably not a good answer to this question anywhere. If there was a "why" then there must be a who to believe it.
